About Us

About Our Association

The Dauphin County Anglers & Conservationists is a nonprofit organization dedicated to trout propagation, conservation, and providing accessible fishing opportunities for the community.

Our organization is responsible for the operation and care of the E.J. Stackpole Memorial Nursery, located along the scenic Clarks Creek in Dauphin, Pennsylvania. Through volunteer service, memberships, sponsorships, and donations, we work year-round to raise trout, maintain the grounds, and host meaningful community events.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple.

Fishing should be fun and accessible for everyone.

We focus on conservation, education, and inclusion by:

  • Raising and stocking trout in Pennsylvania waterways
  • Maintaining safe and accessible fishing areas
  • Supporting youth, veterans, and individuals with disabilities
  • Promoting responsible fishing and environmental stewardship

E.J. Stackpole Memorial Nursery

The E.J. Stackpole Memorial Nursery serves as the heart of our organization.

Each year, we feed, raise, and care for approximately 8,000 trout at the nursery. We are one of 159 cooperative nurseries across Pennsylvania that assist the state with trout stocking efforts.

The state provides fingerling trout at no cost. From that point forward, our organization is fully responsible for:

  • Feeding the trout
  • Maintaining water quality
  • Managing the grounds
  • Funding daily operations

All of this is accomplished through volunteer time and community support.

Special Regulations and Accessibility

The stream at and around the nursery operates under special regulations.

It is open to:

  • Children ages 15 and under
  • Individuals with major disabilities

Around the clubhouse area, we offer multiple fishing locations designed to be accessible to anglers with disabilities. Our goal is to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy fishing in a safe and welcoming environment.

Beyond the Nursery

Our work extends well beyond raising trout.

Throughout the year, we host events that bring people together and introduce new anglers to the sport. These include youth fishing days, special needs events, veteran-focused derbies, and community gatherings during trout season.

These events play an important role in education, outreach, and fostering a lifelong appreciation for fishing and conservation.

How We Are Supported

The Dauphin County Anglers & Conservationists relies entirely on:

  • Membership fees
  • Sponsorships
  • Donations
  • Volunteer service

This support allows us to operate the nursery, stock trout, host events, and maintain accessible fishing areas for the community.
